Spectacular Drill Core - Prairie Down Zinc Project

Diamond drilling of the Zed Lode has returned some spectacular intersections. The table below shows visually recorded zinc and lead mineralisation from diamond drill hole PDD 180, also shown in the accompanying photographs. There are a number of other core intersections that are as good as or better than PDD 180.

The principal ore mineral of zinc is sphalerite, which grades from 38% to 67% zinc depending upon its composition. Metallurgical testwork on Prairie Downs sphalerite shows it is low in iron and has a typical zinc content of 55%. The principal ore mineral of lead is galena, which characteristically grades around 85% lead.

The values for sphalerite and galena in the table below are visual estimates. The values for zinc and lead have been factored from these estimates using the factors above; i.e. 0.55 for zinc and 0.85 for lead. Assay results have not yet been received for PDD 180.

PDD 180 205.4 metres to 232.8 metres

PDD180 205.4 215.7 10.3 3 7 2 6
  215.7 220.4 4.7 10 2 6 2
  220.4 225.5 5.1 9 3 5 3
  225.5 227.1 1.6 90 3 50 3
  227.1 228.8 1.7 1 1 1 1
  228.8 229.5 0.7 1 1 1 1
  229.5 230.1 0.6 85 3 47 3
  230.1 232.8 2.7 8 2 4 2

PDD 180 lies on section 19700E. It is the deepest hole on the section and thus this very strong mineralisation remains open at depth. The three drill holes up dip of PDD 180 have also intersected strong zinc mineralisation. This section is the easternmost on Zed Lode and lies 100 metres to the west of Main Lode.

Assay results are awaited for RC drill holes PDP175 to 189 and for diamond holes PDD179, 180, 182 and 190-195. Diamond drilling was completed on Monday, with the next stage of drilling scheduled for the beginning of July. The initial focus of this next program will be depth and strike extensions to Zed Lode.

Conclusions from scoping studies on mining, processing, infrastructure, transport and marketing will be released later this week.
